Commercial Film Production

Since 2011, organizations across Canada (and the world!) have trusted us with their video production needs.

From pre-production to production, post to delivery, and archiving your project to keep it safe for years to come; we handle it all in house at Play Creative.

Be sure to contact us with any questions you may have about the production process.

Aerials

Play has been capturing stunning aerial cinematography since 2016. Ruben, Allan, and Mike are fully certified by Transport Canada for advanced operations in controlled airspace. This means that in addition to flying in remote/rural areas, we can fly within cities where basic operators cannot.

Play takes the safety of the client, agency, crew, bystanders, and other air traffic very seriously, and carries the necessary insurance for such operations. Ticking all the regulatory boxes means we can safely get our drone in the sky to capture beautiful imagery.

The combination of a drone that shoots 5K RAW, a skilled pilot, and an experienced cinematographer leads to breathtaking footage.

Sound Design

There are many benefits to doing the sound mix in-house at Play.
Direct access to the suite means easy collaboration between director, producer, client, agency, and audio engineer, reduced cost, and of course that
difficult-to-describe asset: taste. Trained at the Vancouver Film School Sound Design for Visual Media program, Ruben Rojas leads the sound department.

No audio project is too big or too small for us, we can do it all. Equipped with the latest version of Pro Tools HD, a comprehensive suite of audio plug-ins, Dynaudio 5.1 monitor system and Universal Audio interface. Our suite also features a voiceover booth for recording voiceover in-per- son. To round out the package, we also have an industry-leading location audio kit for recording audio on set.

Colour Correction

Colour grading (or colour correction/colour timing) is one of the final stages a project goes through before delivery into the world.

In general terms, “primaries” are used to smooth over any inconsistencies or correct mistakes in colour balance & exposure, and “secondaries” are used to develop the creative look. This process stylistically emphasizes the visual mood set by the Director of Photography.

The Play Creative colour suite features an industry-leading Flanders Scientific calibrated broadcast monitor, a graphically powerful computer endearingly named “The Monster,” 18% grey colour-neutral walls, and at the helm is a television & film industry veteran colourist – Jason Rister.
